Community Action Projects 

 
A key component of Leadership Tompkins is the Community Action Projects. This gives participants a chance to begin making a difference in the community right away, while developing an appreciation for the work required to envision and bring about change.

 

Projects are selected by the participants themselves, based on their interests, passions, skills, community need, desire for growth experiences.
The stated goals of the CAPs are to:

 

  • Make a contribution to the quality of life in Tompkins County
  • Provide the participants with a learning experience in the context of current community issues
  • Provide the participants with the opportunity to learn and practice leadership skills in a safe environment
  • Encourage participants to create a partnership with at least one community organization and help them build a network of community leaders and resources
  • Give the participants the opportunity to learn more about each other, personally, professionally, and what each already contributes to the community.
